Reich is getting ready for the future
Bochum. The REICH staff as well as many guests were delighted on Friday with company boss Herwarth Reich at the presentation of the new production and storage halls of the medium-sized company, which has been located on Vierhausstraße for 66 years. "At 66 years of age, there is still a long way to go", Reich quoted a line from pop singer Udo Jürgens.
And indeed it is a success story. The company, which produces flexible couplings for a wide range of applications worldwide, has set its sights on expansion. 150 people are employed at the site, 170 in total. More than four million euros have been invested in the approximately 1,800 sqm hall, which is connected to a semi-automatic warehouse as well as offices and social rooms.
Reich relies on good neighbourliness
In his brief address, Reich recalled the construction process, not ignoring the initial problems with the neighborhood caused by the construction site and especially the tree felling on the former site of the municipal fire station. "But this is now over," said Reich, who is counting on continued good neighbourliness.
The real highlight of the new complex is its energy supply. For example, a powerful photovoltaic system has been installed on the roofs, which has already supplied 32,000 kw/h of electricity since it was installed in December. In addition, 25 boreholes were drilled into the ground under the hall. They are the core of a modern geothermal plant that produces energy from geothermal energy. Architect Hans-Jürgen Ludwig is already looking forward to the next REICH project: a modern office building is to be built right next door.
